Our Goals

As a community organization, our goal is to empower our society to take the matter of their health and wellness into their own hands by providing them with the appropriate knowledge and access to resources such as free yoga sessions to accomplish this.

The Story Behind Our Name

When we were first starting out we thought naming our organization after a flower could become a symbol of wellness. Since flowers in general, and orchids particularly, can help individuals relax, reduce stress, and improve one's mood. Which can then reduce a person's risk of chronic illnesses. Also in some cultures orchids symbolize health and are believed to be a healer of many chronic illnesses. Overall we just thought the name sounded fresh and had a good ring to it, which is why we ended up going with it..

Message from Our Founders

Aqsa Owais, President

Hi! My name is Aqsa, and I am the co-founder of The Orchid Organization. I view the pursuit of knowledge as the singular flame blazing in an infinitely dark room brimming with ignorance. I literally take the phrase "knowledge is power" to heart which is why I view The Orchid Organization as so much more than another student-led organization. Our goal is to empower our communities to take a stand and take their health and wellbeing into their own hands.

Rebecca Xu, Vice President

Hello! I’m Rebecca, a co-founder of The Orchid Organization. I believe that a goal for anyone or anything gives direction and meaning to it. Our goal at The Orchid Organization is simple but impactful: to educate and bring awareness to the public in health and wellness. These aims are ambitious, but so are we.
